Bedford planning officials gave the green light for developer Encore Enterprises to add a 2-story movie theater building to the heart of the Market and Main development being built on the former site of a Macy’s department store.
The Bedford Planning Board approved the cinema on Jan. 28, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported. The 113,000-square-foot building will have retail space on the ground floor and theaters on the second floor. The cinema’s operator has not yet been publicly named, but the paper’s report describes it as a “nationally known” operator.
Market and Main is a 16-acre, high-density, mixed-use development under construction on South River Road just south of Manchester. The development will consist of fashion, recreation, fitness, dining and office space. A new Whole Foods location, contiguous to this site, opened in the spring of 2016, while Trader Joe’s, The Friendly Toast restaurant chain and REI are set to open locations in the fall of 2019, according to Texas-based developer Encore Enterprises.
