Permits for Single-Family Houses Up Year-Over-Year


Building permits in New Hampshire saw an increase in December 2018 compared to December 2017, according to new data from the U.S. Census Bureau. 

Granite State municipalities issued permits to construct 185 housing units in December of last year, the most recent period in which local data are available, and for 150 units in December 2017. Permits for single-family homes increased from 113 to 155. 

Recent data from the National Association of Home Builders show building permits rose 11 percent statewide between 2017 and 2018, with led by a 17 percent increase in permits issued in the Manchester-Nashua area. 

New single-family permits declined 2 percent statewide, while the number issued in the Manchester-Nashua area declined 14 percent.  

The NAHB data show a 54 percent jump in permits for multifamily construction statewide, with permits for multifamily construction in the Manchester-Nashua area rising 108 percent.
