The Salem Planning Board recently approved plans for nearly 300 apartments at the Tuscan Village mixed-use development.

The board OK’d a 281-unit apartment building by a 6-1 vote, according to the Eagle-Tribune.

Later this month, the board also will be reviewing plans for a 4,500-square-foot, 120-seat Pressed Café location at Tuscan Village and a 120,000-square-foot medical office building.

Tuscan Village is a 170-acre project on the site of the former Rockingham Park race track, the brainchild of Tuscan Brands owner Joe Faro. The project will ultimately have 1 million square feet of class A office space at full buildout along with a park, lake and large, T-shaped shopping and entertainment street. The project’s first, 50-acre phase has already been built, featuring a Market Basket, a car dealership, 96 townhomes and 260 apartment units.
