A $200 million Dartmouth College project is on hold after it was discovered part of the hole for the foundation was 10 feet out of place.
The Valley News reports New York-based contractor Turner Construction Co., the college and Hanover officials are trying to decide how to proceed. A webcam set up by the college to broadcast construction progress shows much of the foundation has been dug and braced, and work is beginning on the building’s core.
The Center for Engineering and Computer Science will offer a new home for the Thayer School of Engineering, the Department of Computer Science and the Magnuson Center for Entrepreneurship broke ground in December. The project includes a 340-car garage in its basement, necessitating a 70-foot-deep foundation.
