Angela Strozewski, executive vice president and senior operations officer at New Hampshire Mutual Bancorp, and Service Credit Union President and CEO David Araujo have been named to Gov. Chris Sununu’s newly created Commission on Cryptocurrencies and Digital Assets.
Sununu created the commission to investigate how the state should adapt its banking and other laws to accommodate the rise of cryptocurrencies and related digital assets.
“New Hampshire is a hub of financial innovation, and the formation of this Commission will further our commitment to attracting high quality banking and financial businesses in a safe and responsible manner,” Sununu said in a statement when the commission was announced. “I am excited for the work the members of this Commission will undertake and the recommendations they will provide so that New Hampshire can continue to advance necessary reforms that promote economic growth, foster innovation, and meet changing customer needs while ensuring safety, soundness, and consumer protection.”
Other notable members include Commissioner of the Bank Department Raeleen Blaisdell.
“We are honored to have Angela representing not only NHMB, but all of our NH banks on the Governor’s Commission,” NHMB President and CEO Gregg Tewksbury said in a statement. “Her deep knowledge of the payments system in banking will be of significant value to this Commission.”
In her role at NHMB, Strozewski oversees the shared operations areas for all the affiliate organizations, which includes digital banking and digital banking systems and operations. She was recommended to the commission by the NH Bankers Association to represent all state banks.
