Charlie Dowd retired from Meredith Village Savings Bank at the end of 2025, the bank announced, concluding a 24-year career in the banking industry.

Dowd joined MVSB in 2021 as a vice president of residential mortgage sales. The banks’ announcement said he “played a key role” in expanding the bank’s mortgage lending team and strengthening its reputation.

MVSB attributed this growth to a “commitment for exceptional service, efficient technology and strong community relationships.”

The bank has ranked in the top 10 most prolific bank mortgage lenders in New Hampshire for several years running, according to The Registry Review’s annual Top Lenders report. MVSB ended 2024 at second place by volume of single-family purchase loans and first place by number of single-family purchase loans, according to the most recent rankings, which are published every March.

Dowd has also been a prolific volunteer, MVSB said, including serving as announcer for the MVSB Children’s Tractor Pull at the Sandwich Fair, supporting the Alton Winter Carnival, attending fundraisers for My Breast Cancer Support, and advocating for organizations such as NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire and New Hampshire Housing.

He also leads financial education and financial literacy sessions in local schools and the general public.

“Charlie’s leadership and dedication have had a tremendous impact on our Residential Lending team,” MVSB Senior Vice President of Residential Mortgage Lending Jaime Frederes said in a statement. “His strategic vision guided the division through significant growth and change, and his commitment to mentoring others has built a strong foundation for continued success. We will greatly miss his expertise, integrity and humor, but are so grateful for all he has contributed to MVSB. We wish him a very welldeserved, happy and healthy retirement.”

The bank said Dowd plans to spend more time with family and friends, and divide his time between New Hampshire and Florida.
