Citizens Bank will only be left with two physical locations in the Upper Valley once its Main Street branch in Hanover closes in October.
Customers were sent letters last month warning of the plans to shutter the branch and its ATM on Oct. 9, the Valley News reports.
The bank started the 2010s with seven branches in the region, and will only be left with locations in Claremont and West Lebanon.
The city still has several bank branches in its downtown, however, who may be able to win customers over who don’t want to drive a longer distance to their bank.
Rhode Island-based Citizens, like many Wall Street banks, is steadily pulling back on its branch footprint in favor of more robust digital services, saving its physical locations for more complicated transactions and personal advice.
