The developers behind a three-building mixed-use project at 2 Russel St. in Portsmouth were given more time to bring their vision to life.
Port Harbor Land LLC was granted its second one-year extension of site plan approval by the city Planning Board last month.
The banana-shaped site is currently an empty parking lot next to the city’s downtown.
Port Harbor Land proposes 80 residential units, office space, ground-floor commercial space and streetscape improvements, plus 186 structured valet parking spots for residents and office tenants.
An attorney for the developers, John Lyons, told city officials that the extension was warranted because “this project is unique in its complexity and has warranted additional time in planning and design,” according to the Portsmouth herald.
The project is the successor to one known as “the Harborcorp development,” which was to have included a Whole Foods grocery store.
