Portsmouth residents could soon see on-demand minibuses join their slate of transportation options.

The Portsmouth Herald reported that city officials have begun discussions with Via, an Uber-like ride-hailing service that is used as a public transit service by a few other small North American cities.

Key questions remain about how the city would fund a costly program, the paper reports.

The service is intended to help deal with parking congestion downtown.
