Manchester rents are up 1.5 percent year-over-year, according to a new study from rental housing listing site Apartment List.
Median rents in Manchester stand at $1,077 for a one-bedroom apartment and $1,368 for a two-bedroom as of Aug. 31, the site found. However, the city’s average rent is down 0.2 percent from July marking the second straight month that the city has seen rent decreases after an increase in June. Manchester’s year-over-year rent growth lags the state average of 1.7 percent but is in line with the national average of 1.5 percent.
As rents have increased slightly in Manchester, a few large cities nationwide have also seen rents grow modestly. Manchester is still more affordable than most large cities across the country.
Manchester’s median two-bedroom rent of $1,368 is above the national average of $1,191. However, Boston’s median rents of $1,733 for a one-bedroom apartment and $2,148 for a two-bedroom are substantially higher than Manchester’s.
