Once a movie theater, now brand-new homes, Sage Portsmouth opened its doors this fall.
Developer Torrington Properties announced the project’s grand opening was held Sept. 23.
Located on the old Cinemagic movie theater location to the rear of a retail plaza off Route 1, the development is being billed as “a unique housing concept” in the context of Portsmouth’s housing market.
The building is highly amenitized with ork-from-home space, a pet washing station, electric vehicle charging units and other features in addition to the now-standard fitness center and outdoor terrace. Units range from 615 square feet to 1,194 square feet in size.
Twenty percent of the building’s units are set aside as affordable housing. Torrington did not disclose these units’ pricing in its announcement but characterized them as attainable by “rising professionals.”
“We made a commitment to help Portsmouth meet the housing needs of a new generation of professionals, such as teachers, nurses, firefighters, police officers and others. We are proud to deliver on that promise with Sage, where there is a place for everyone from experienced executives to those in the early stages of their professional careers,” Torrington Principal and CEO Jay Bisognano said in a statement.
Financing was provided by Needham Bank, based in Boston’s western suburbs and the building was erected by Charters Brothers.
