Longtime local developer Walter Cheney has filed plans with city officials in Rochester to build 255 homes on a 42-acre lot in the northeastern portion of town.
The lots, just off Portland Street, are largely wooded and have significant numbers of wetlands.
Plans filed with the city Zoning Board of Adjustment show 15 single-family homes along a U-shaped road serving as a buffer for existing single-family homes that sit on one side of the site.
The remaining 240 units are set to be condominiums in eight 24- to 36-unit buildings set around a series of parking lots.
A 92-home plan for the site was OK’d by city officials in 2018, but failed to get off the ground.
